PERMIT PAL - ONLINE RESOURCE FOR OBTAINING A BUILDING PERMIT
  • Ever asked do I need a building permit for my construction project?

  • Building a fence and wanting to know if you need a building permit?
The Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) has implemented an online information resource,
Permit Pal,
to assist property owners when applying for a building permit.

The current version of Permit Pal begins with the question:
  • When do I need a building permit? You can then click on the answer which best describes your construction project (10 different types to choose from, e.g. electrical or plumbing). A final summary of the requirements for obtaining a building permit for your construction project will be displayed. You can go back and click on a different answer to view the requirements for a different project (e.g. painting, cabinetry, or flooring).
Permit Pal also provides information to the question:
  • I'm working on a fence. Do I need a building permit? Depending on your answer to each of the questions that Permit Pal poses, you will be able to view a final summary which provides instructions for either submitting your fence plans for review, or obtaining a building permit online through HONLINE.

Stay tuned for more information to be included in Permit Pal.
